October 23, 2015 / 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Entry: £2 on the door of The Albion Beatnik
Sarah Corbett’s fourth book, And She Was (Liverpool University Press, 2015) is a playful riff on the idea of the verse-novel, a love story, a puzzle that pushes the boundaries of poetic genre. Sarah has has published three previous collections with Seren Books: Other Beasts (2008), The Witch Bag (2002), and The Red Wardrobe (1998), which was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection and the T.S. Eliot Prize. A selection of her translations from the Dutch poet Mustafa Stitou can be found in Uit Het Hoofd/By Heart (Five Leaves Press, 2006). Sarah was a Royal Literary Fund Fellow in 2012 and teaches Creative Writing at Lancaster University.
In her thi…rd full-length collection, Blood Child (LUP, 2015), Eleanor Rees hones and extends her startling use of language and imagery to enact the many aspects of change as she roams through the landscapes of self and city. Eleanor’s pamphlet collection Feeding Fire (Spout, 2001) received an Eric Gregory Award in 2002 and her first full length collection Andraste’s Hair (Salt, 2007) was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection and the Glen Dimplex New Writers Awards. Eleanor has worked extensively as a local poet in the community and has a PhD from the University of Exeter in this practice. She lives in Liverpool.
These books are part of a new imprint from Liverpool University Press, Pavilion Poetry, a series edited by Deryn Rees-Jones
